scanning old white on blue blueprints

HP Pagewide XL 4000, I need advice on scanning some old Blue prints. They are the solid blue back ground with white lines. I have used other equipment in the past and was able to invert the dark for the light and the light for the dark. Meaning scan dark blue background w/white line and output is white back ground with black lines. I DID find the toggle to invert the scan when I used it, it worked. Except there is not way to adjust the darkness/ light, it was too light things that should have been easy to see were not dark enough to read. I tried taking the smart background removal off, adjusting the detailed background removal and the black enhancement nothing helped. I tried every combination of those settings. I have had other issued with this scanner It wound not scan a black and white page with a black 1/4" border, I covered the boarder on the lead edge with white out tape and it ran fine.
